Darknet Markets
A set of commerical websites on the dark web that operate via Tor. Basically black markets to sell/purchase illicit goods (mostly). Silk Road was the first modern darknet market, launched in 2011 by Ross Ulbricht, and operated as a hidden service on Tor network. It was taken down by the FBI in 2013. Transactions typically use Bitcoin and Monero for payment. As off recently, there have also been Chinese and Russian sites popping up.
There is also a movie on Silk Road, but I wouldn’t watch it because Hollywood (because they’re cringe and a dying industry) likes to glorify these things and twist history; just like with the crime family/mafia stories.
